Where is getaway this summer, eat well, drink well and relax this summer ,we are thinking the same. We looked far and wide and here’s where the cool are spending there summers , our top summer holiday destinations .
Forte di Marmi , Italy
“Forte dei Marmi is one of the major summer destinations attracting the Italian upper class.” tenor Andrea Bocelli and his wife Veronica Berti live here, Giorgio Armani have a villa here. A little shopping calls Prada, Tod’s, Versace, Armani, Dolce & Gabbana, Moncler, Scervino, Cavalli, Fiacchini, Volponi , Louis Vuitton, Rolex and Philippe Plein. Followed by watching the locals fishing, or get on board the ferry to the amazing Cinque Terre and Portovenere for a daily excursion. And best of all you have the beautiful Tuscan sun and wine to follow .
Taha’a, French Polynesia
The vanilla Island has a lot more to offer than just exceptional vanilla .Much less visited than Bora Bora and less populated than its neighbouring Raiatea, Taha’a is one of the most beautiful islands in French Polynesia, they say its the “has the clearest turquoise water you have ever seen” and a true relaxing summer holiday choice .
Mallorca , Spain
Now, this is one place we weren’t very sure of before we experienced it first hand. From great restaurants to elegant boutique’s and luxurious fincas. The Son Brull or the fabulous Hotel Sant Francesc ( just make sure you ask for a room away from the lift shafts) in the heart of the old town are our top picks to enjoy this island we like to getaway all summer. Evenings are best at Puerto Portals with a choice of places to eat , drink and buys and days at Nikki Beach ,
This town in the French Riviera has inspired painters like Matisse, Albert Marquet and David Hockney amongst many others. It is quite simply the most famous resort in Europe attracting the great, the rich and the A-list. Le club 55 and Les Caves du Roy plays host to the party set when they aren’t shopping in the little expensive shops. It has all the ingredients to make your dream summer holiday perfect. Welcoming up to 100,000 visitors a day, the town centre gets busy in the summer but we ain’t complaining.Hotel Sezz is modern and comfortable and Hotel Byblos is one of the world’s most famous hotels and we love the Pan Deï Palais its a little like our friends small palace here at home in India.
Beaches, lagoons and coral reefs and then there’s mountains , waterfalls and rainforests. Mauritius is a “world in one island” the place we wouldn’t mind being shipwrecked in. With a dearth of luxury properties to choose from, Lux* Le Morne with its splendid white beach is our drool place and then there’s the Maradiva Villas owned by a fifth generation Mauritian family is everything we like about heritage. We like boutique and exclusive and 20 Degrees Sud located in a coconut grove has an intimate atmosphere. There’s more to do than just on the beach there plenty to see and do. It’s one place we were tempted to accept the airlines offer to change our flight back home…. but alas !! Mauritius is perfect for a chilled summer holiday.
